Ottawa Streets, Avenues & Boulevards
Originally known as Biddy's Lane, Elgin Street runs through downtown Ottawa from Wellington Street in the north to the Queensway Highway in the south. The street, which features both residential and commercial buildings, is known for its thriving restaurant and nightlife scene.
Located downtown, Rideau Street is a shopper's paradise with the Rideau Centre and hundreds of shops bordering the street. The city's Arts Court, the Ottawa Art Gallery, Ottawa Little Theatre and the National Arts Centre are also situated on Rideau Street.
One of Ottawa's main arteries, Confederation Boulevard links many of the city's main attractions. Extending from downtown toward Sussex Drive, the road also connects the Ontario and Quebec sides of the Ottawa River. Winning an urban design award, the boulevard also looks great lined with flags in the summer and lights in the winter. Follow the route to see over 60 landmarks also decorated. Visitors will also see works of art, sculptures, shops, restaurants and much more en route.
