Ottawa Shopping Areas
Running North from Dow's Lake, Preston Street is Ottawa's Little Italy. Numerous cafes and eclectic restaurants are found here, each with its own distinctive charm. Be sure to check out Italian week, held every year in June during the Feast of St. Anthony, or the Preston Street Grape Harvest (La Vendemmia) every September.
Enjoy the traditional open air market that sells not only fruits and vegetables but also crafts and arts. More than a market, this is a community; take the time to talk to the local grocers and artisans.
Located one block from Parliament Hill, Sparks street boasts a large number of stores, restaurants and numerous historical buildings. Stroll around and visit some of the oldest and most unique shopping establishments in the country. Many tours can be arranged directly on Sparks Street.
If the Parliament Buildings are Ottawa's heart, then the Bank Street Promenade is its main artery. Encompassing a 15 block area with over 500 restaurants, shops, galleries and museums, this is a neighbourhood that visitors can not even avoid.
